Description
I named this collection Bókamerki, which translates directly to “bookmark” in Old Norse, introducing a brand new functional addition to my line. Consequently, these handcrafted pieces bring a touch of ancient charm and a moody, old-world aesthetic to your favourite novels, journals, or grimoires.
In addition, I have meticulously hand-hammered the copper to work-harden the metal. This means the bookmarks retain its rigid strength and durable structure, allowing them to slide flawlessly between your pages without bending. But they also features a dark oxidised finish that provides a beautiful, deeply rich antique look.
I handcraft each metal bookmark from my home right here in New Zealand. Because every single piece is shaped, hammered, and patinated individually by hand, your literary accessory remains completely one of a kind. Therefore, you will receive a unique bookish treasure that nobody else can ever own or replicate.
- Material: Solid Copper
- Finish: Hammered & Dark Oxidised (Antique)
About Hammered & Oxidised Copper
- Hand-hammering copper changes its structural integrity, hardening the metal so it keeps its shape through years of daily use.
- The dark oxidation process accelerates the natural aging of the copper, giving it a weathered, timeless appearance that won’t rub off on pages.
- It showcases subtle, natural textures from the hammer strikes, making the surface look and feel beautifully organic.
- Plus, the antique patina highlights the unique ridges and edges of the metal, creating high-contrast shadows.
- Additionally, this durable heirloom accessory will continue to develop its own rich story and character the more it is handled.
