Description

“Shadow Björn” means shadow bear in Old Norse, and this piece earned that name the moment it was made. If you look closely into the labradorite, a natural shadow forms the silhouette of a bear sitting within the stone. It was already there. The wirework just gave it a frame.

In Norse tradition the bear was a symbol of fierce protection and solitude, two things labradorite has always suited. This stone shifts between electric blues and deep mossy greens depending on how the light catches it, which makes the shadow inside feel less like a marking and more like something living just beneath the surface.

Stone: Labradorite

Wire: Oxidised Copper

About Labradorite

  • The colour play inside labradorite comes from light refracting between microscopic layers within the stone, producing flashes that range from pale silver to deep ocean blue to gold depending on the angle.
  • Most labradorite comes from Canada and Madagascar, and the Canadian variety is often associated with Inuit legend, where it was said that the Northern Lights were once trapped inside coastal rocks.
  • It is considered a stone of transformation and is often used for shielding and introspection, making it a natural fit for anyone drawn to shadow work or inner reflection.
